SIDBI RKMA TO SETUP ALTERNATIVE LIVELIHOOD CENTRE AT SOHRA

SHILLONG: The Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), the country’s principal financial institution for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), has in-principle agreed to support Ramakrishna Mission Ashram (RKMA), Sohra (Cherrapunjee) for setting up of an alternative livelihood centre.

The centre, to be named “Swavalamban Alternate Livelihood Unit for The East” (SALUTE), on the ashram premises, will run vocational courses on weaving, tailoring, fashion designing, knitting, embroidery, product development to provide alternate livelihood opportunities to dropout students, women and tribals from the northeastern states.
