Skill Classes for Livelihood

Skill Classes for Livelihood

Skill is the basic necessity of a livelihood enterprise. Often there are instances of people having skills which are not market oriented and thus, cannot be monetized. This programme segment strives to continuously work with partner institutions in the field or corporates engaged in similar activities and join hands to impart livelihood enterprise-oriented skilling programmes. The programme endeavours to induce a cultural shift by making the end visible in the beginning itself so as to have a measurable impact by reaching out to the unserved, underserved, backward, calamity prone & aspirational districts of India. The basic objective of the intervention is promoting entrepreneurship through partnership with agencies working with similar goal.

SIDBI, in partnership with NSDC, has implemented a livelihood oriented Swavalamban Skill (Sw-Skill) pilot intervention at Lucknow involving short term (3 months) skill training, extending toolkits, seed capital and followed by 12 months handholding support to the youth aspirants to start and run their own livelihood enterprises, The Bank, in association with Mahendra Skills, has also  launched a series of such Sw-Skill classes in some other locations. Another intervention in a few locations is also underway in partnership with TATA Strive for facilitating skilled and aspiring youths in getting intensive handholding support, EDP training for setting up Nano and Micro Enterprises to increase their income opportunities and generate employment.
