We realized that poor quality of last mile banking services, predominant cash transactions in SHG operations, limited product portfolio of Banks, limited MIS & customer profile data & large no. of dormant accounts etc. was a challenge that many of the State Rural Livelihoods Mission (SRLMs) were facing. As our first, we supported Jeevika (Bihar SRLM) in developing a digital financial services strategy and an implementation road map to improve the quality of last mile banking services and cashless transactions through strengthened bank’s BC agent network and other alternate channels like mobile banking.
SIDBI partnered with Bihar State Rural Livelihoods Mission (JEEViKA) to strengthen alternate banking services programme and support them in laying foundation for microenterprise development in Bihar.
The project also aimed at improving demand side capabilities through digital financial literacy and ensuring SHG members tap variety of products (savings, insurance etc.) & services (payments & remittances) at their doorsteps and at reasonable cost in a competitive environment. The use of technology and IT enabled solutions is the mainstay of the programme in order to offer wider outreach and access to a wide range of products at competitive pricing.
SIDBI partnered with Jharkhand State Livelihoods Promotion Society (JSLPS) to strengthen alternate banking services and mainstreaming digital financial inclusion and literacy into their alternate banking channels in the state of Jharkhand. The project aims at ensuring financial inclusion of the ultimate beneficiaries through successful implementation of BC model and other appropriate digital financial technologies for streamlining the processes and ascertaining effective monitoring mechanisms at the state level. Under the project, it is envisaged that 1200 new Bank Sakhis will be on-boarded, trained and IIBF certified, 50% CBOs of 20 model CLFs in all districts of Jharkhand will be provided digital financial literacy, average digital transactions will increase between 5-7 lakhs and an advanced MIS dashboard will be developed to track the performance of BC Agents.
